Located within a two-hour drive of Constanța, and edging the Romania/Ukraine border, Delta, a natural paradise unparalleled in Europe, unique opportunity to get rid of the city routine, packs a punch when it comes to pioneer history, natural assets of beaches, rich floating and submerse flora, floating reed islands and large populations of birds, some of them very rare. How about a chance to take a closer look at the only slice of paradise in Europe? The chance to face the challenges of the wilderness: boat rides, island exploration, canoe race and orientation, bird watching and fishing. The chance to witness the wild side of nature and marvel at the natural monument the God created for us. Then it is the time to give thanks to God for this Garden of Eden he created for us in those very settlements we built for Him – in the monasteries. Where else could we express our gratitude if not there? I mean here in Romania. Will it be a pilgrimage tour? Not really. Rather a revelation.

Local people also use the fish meat minced (to cook meat balls, stuffed green peppers, sarmale - meatballs of cabbage) . Or you can try the local version of Russian borsht prepared fresh by fishermen in one of the nearby villages.
Fisherman’s soup - In a big „castron” kettle, water is brought to a boil with vegetables and some 10 to 15 species of small fish. The liquid is then strained and the small fish discarded. Big chunks of sturgeon, carp or pike are then boiled in the broth. The fish soup makes two dishes: first, the broth is served with a wooden spoon and then the big chunks of fish are sprinkled with chili pepper or garlic. Afterwards, the saramura, prepared from big chunks of carp broiled on the stove or on a spit, is served with polenta and garlic sauce.
