                     Secret Travel Society

Most of the greatest minds that ever lived were initiated into the society of Mysteries by secret rites. Plato was one of these initiates.

S.T.S. is a fraternity within a fraternity - an outer organization concealing an inner brotherhood of the elect. It is necessary to establish the existence of these two separate and yet interdependent orders, the one visible and the other invisible. The visible society is a splendid camaraderie of 'free and accepted' men enjoined to devote themselves to ethical, educational, fraternal, patriotic, and humanitarian concerns. The invisible society is a secret and most August fraternity whose members are dedicated to the service of a mysterious ‘Hermes’,Olympian god, patron of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them.

Anonymous Travellers Conspiracy Tour (A.T.C.Tour)

The question of precisely what fires the will of the wealthy supranational elites seeking to manipulate and control travel events, has not escaped the attention of serious students of conspiracies and cover-ups. A theory that a travel conspiracy has been working consciously for many centuries is not very plausible unless one attributes to them a unity. That is tantamount to regarding them as travellers engaged in the worship and service of supernatural travel.

In order for a person to become a Member he must not only go through all the degrees of S.T. S. , make all those oaths, worship the world, but he must make a A.T.C.Tour. The Traveler is then given an ‘opulent’ sign as recognition.

Tour Summary

Bucharest – The Transfagarasan Highway /Sibiu fortress –Deva – Hunedoara with Corvin Castle /Colt Castle Ruins, located near the village of Suseni - Densus Church (Petroșani) – Sinca Veche Monastery (Brasov) - Racoș (between Sighișoara and Sf. Gheorghe), Feldioara (20 km from Brașov) - The Berca Mud Volcanoes, The Aluniş cave-church (Buzau) – (200 km) – Tulcea , Danube Delta/ Caraorman, Letea (3 nights) – Mangalia, "Limanu" cave – Bucharest – The Witches’ swamp, Boldesti village, Boldu-Creteasca Wood, near Bucharest.

DAY 1

Bucharest – Sibiu (282 km);

  • Arrive at Bucharest’s Henri Coanda Airport;
  • Drive through Sibiu.
  • The Transfagarasan Highway was built in the 1970s so that Romanian troops and tanks could cross over the Carpathian Mountains quickly in case of a Soviet-led invasion. It has more tunnels and viaducts than any other road in Romania. In the vicinity of the highest point, at Lake Balea (Balea Lac), the road passes through Romania’s longest road tunnel (about 2880 ft; 900 m), connecting the north a nd south valleys. The difference between the two sides is stunning. While on the northern side the landscape is barren and alpine as the road makes its way up an amazing glacial valley, on the southern side the road drops gradually through pleasant green scenery.

*After lunch stroll through Stairs Passage, one of the most picturesque places in Sibiu. It makes the connection between the lower-town and the upper-town and was built in 13th century. At one end of the passage stands one of the oldest buildings in town. It hosts the oldest restaurant in Romania: "The Golden Barrel" (Butoiul de Aur).

  • Accommodation on a 4* hotel in Sibiu. Opening of the Order first meeting in the T’s Temple.

DAY 2

Sibiu – Deva (99 km) – Hunedoara (34 km)

  • The first evidence of the medieval Deva Fortress dates back to the second hal f of the 13th century, in 1269, when Stephen V, King of Hungary and Duke of Transilvania, mentioned "the royal castle of Deva".From 1273 dates the first record about a military operation that involved The Fortress. At the end of the 13th century, The Deva Fortress is in the property of Ladislaus Kán, Voivode of Transylvania, who organised here a court besides the military garrison.
  • The region around Hunedoara was one of the earliest settled parts of Romania. Here you will find neolithic remains and the ruins of the Dacian Citadels, including Sarmizegetusa, near Gradistea de Munte, deep in the mountains above Orastie, seat of the kings Burebista and Decebal;
  • Hunedoara castle is also found as Corvinesti or Huniazilor Castle. Hunedora is evocative, with three huge pointed towers, a drawbridge and high battlements. Five marble columns with delicate ribbed vaults support two halls (1453), the Diet Hall and the Knight's Hall. The castle wall was hewn out of 30 m of solid rock by Turkish prisoners.

14 th Century Gothic castle. It was built on old Roman fortifications, on a strategic position, on a rocky cliff at the exit of Zlasti river from a small defile from Poiana Rusca Mountains.

It is believed to be the place where Vlad III of Wallachia (commonly known as Vlad the Impaler) was held prisoner for 7 years after he was deposed in 1462.

In February 2007, Hunyad Castle played host to the British paranormal television program Most Haunted Live! for a three-night live investigation into the spirits reported to be haunting the castle.

Overnight in a 4* hotel in Deva.

DAY 3

Deva - Colt Castle Ruins, located near the village of Suseni - Densus Church ((89 km - Petroșani)–Sinca Veche Monastery (beteen Făgăraș and Brașov) -285 km/Brașov.

  • Vizit of Sinca Veche Monastery (Witches Temple);

Accommodation in Brașov.

DAY 4

Brasov– Racoș (between Sighișoara and Sf. Gheorghe), Feldioara (20 km from Brașov) - The Berca Mud Volcanoes, The Aluniş cave-church (Buzau) – 158 km;

  • After breakfast visit historic sites of Brașov . Depart to Buzau.
  • We pass through the heart of a fairy tale land, among green hillocks which host hamlets lost form "civilization", ruined castles and citadels, fortified churches, villagers mowing the fields just like their ancestors and their ancestors' ancestors. The time seems to play tricks with us, hadn't been for the road, we would think we are in the Middle Ages. From a hill the Teutonic citadel of Feldioara (Marienburg) smiles to us;
  • The Racos Basalts-geological preserve placed in the western part of the Persani Mountains, near Rupea, (on the national road Brasov-Sighisoara), with spectacular volcanic basalt structures;
  • The Berca Mud Volcanoes and the Aluniş cave-church;
  • Overnight in a boarding house in the proximity of Buzau.

 DAY 5

Buzau – (200 km) – Tulcea – Caraorman Chanel (white colour on the map);

  • Accommodation on a 4* floating hotel. Opening  of the Cruise. Welcome cocktail. Lunch. We head deep into the Danube Delta - amazing sceneries (a labyrinth of water and land, made up of countless lakes, channels, islands at the end of a 2,860 km long river);

Caraorman

  • The desertic scenery of the dunes has attracted many tourists. The sand hills of Caraorman are across the flowing direction of the Danube, and along with the one in Letea, they represent portions of the original sand belt that once blocked the gulf of Tulcea, transforming it into a lagoon, which clogged and ulteriorly created the Danube Delta;
  • Crisan-Caraorman channel is wider and deeper than usual channels. It has special characteristics which attract many species of fish: carp, sheatfish, zander, pike, rapacious carp, crucian, perch, bream and red surmullet.

DAY 6

Travel farther on Litcov channel (blue colour on the map) – Letea forest;

DAY 7

Travel farther on Olguta and Șontea channels - Fortuna Lake - – Nebunu Lake - return to Tulcea (red colour on the map) – (171 km) - Mangalia/ Limanu Cave – (270 km) - Bucharest;

  • Travelling gently downstream will allow us to enjoy the sounds of wilderness. On our way we’ll explore one of the most remote places in the Danube Delta in which we’ll find: gallery forests of white willow and white poplar, small lakes with reed islands, bird colonies etc.
  • Limanu Cave

The Caves of Gura Dobrogei  complex preserve situated near the villages of Limanu and Targusor, made up of three caves (Limanu, Liliecilor and La Adam, famous due to its Quaternary fauna) hosting colonies of bats.

  • The Witches’ swamp, Satul Boldesti, Boldu-Creteasca Wood, near Bucharest.

Recommendation

  • Fisherman’s soup - In a big „castron” kettle, water is brought to a boil with vegetables and some 10 to 15 species of small fish. The liquid is then strained and the small fish discarded. Big chunks of sturgeon, carp or pike are then boiled in the broth. The fish soup makes two dishes: first, the broth is served with a wooden spoon and then the big chunks of fish are sprinkled with chili pepper or garlic. Afterwards, the saramura, prepared from big chunks of carp broiled on the stove or on a spit, is served with polenta and garlic sauce.
